From a legal perspective this is true, but I wonder if people have thought through the implications of essentially arguing that Michigan's scholarship offers are never really firm until signing day.

'No matter how hard he recruits you, always assume he might stick a shiv in your back,' is not exactly a case I would make to defend my favorite coach.

Game theory suggests that recruits interested in Michigan should hold off making a commitment because doing so early frees the coaching staff to move on to other prospects. Better to play coy and keep one's options open.

Even if they do commit, they should keep going on visits and letting other schools they are open to offers - after all, HARBAUGH is, so why should they limit themselves?
